چکیده
N-Heterocyclic carbene catalysis for the aerobic oxidation and esterification of aromatic aldehydes was monitored by ESI-MS (MS/MS) and the key intermediates were intercepted and characterized using the charge-tag strategy.

N-heterocyclic carbene catalysed aerobic oxidation of aromatic aldehydes to aryl esters using boronic acids.
The organocatalytic behavior of N-heterocyclic carbenes in the aerobic oxidation of aromatic aldehydes to esters with boronic acids has been explored. This transition metal-free protocol allows access to a wide variety of aromatic esters in good to excellent yields under mild reaction conditions.
متن کاملNHC-catalysed highly selective aerobic oxidation of nonactivated aldehydes
This publication describes a highly selective oxidation of aldehydes to the corresponding acids or esters. The reaction proceeds under metal-free conditions by using N-heterocyclic carbenes as organocatalysts in combination with environmentally friendly oxygen as the terminal oxidation agent.
متن کاملEfficient buchwald hartwig reaction catalyzed by spions-bis(NHC)-Pd(II)
A powerful and convenient reaction procedure for the C-N coupling reaction (the Buchwald-Hartwig reaction), yielding products of N-arylanilines and N-arylamines in both conventional heating and microwave irradiation has been reported. The protocol utilizes a stable and new supper ferromagnetic nanoparticle chelating N-heterocyclic dicarbene palladium(II) complex (Pd-NHC) as catalyst which helps...
متن کاملN-heterocyclic carbene-catalyzed generation of homoenolates: gamma-butyrolactones by direct annulations of enals and aldehydes.
N-Heterocyclic carbenes, prepared in situ from diarylimidazolium salts, serve as highly effective catalysts for the generation of reactive homoenolates from alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes. The catalyst-bound homoenolate reacts with electrophilic aldehydes leading, via the key intermediacy of an activated carboxylate, to gamma-butyrolactones in good yields and stereoselectivities. Importantly,...
متن کاملMechanism of the aerobic oxidation of alcohols by palladium complexes of N-heterocyclic carbenes.
Quantum mechanics (B3LYP density functional theory) combined with solvation (Poisson-Boltzmann polarizable continuum solvent model) was used to investigate six mechanisms for the aerobic oxidation of alcohols catalyzed by (NHC)Pd(carboxylate)(2)(H(2)O) complexes (NHC = 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene). Of these, we find that "reductive beta-hydride elimination", in which the be...
